Canadian with green card -- filing tax both countries?

Post by canadiangreencardholder »

Hello,

I am Canadian, and I got my green card in Feb 2014, and started working in the US end of April 2014 till Jan 2015. My questions are:

1) Do I need to file tax for both US and Canada?
2) For filing in the US, I will get W-2 from the places I worked with, to use for filling , correct? Do I also file my expenses while I have been in the US since Feb 2014 such as monthly rental, gasoline, leased car ?
3) For filing in Canada, can I use any tax online/software to file? Do I include my income and expenses in the US in my filing for CAnada?

Thank you in advance!

Please read some of the 100's of posts regardling EMIGRANT return.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
