8938 and principle residence

Post by Mach7 »

Need postive clarification on this.

My personal residence (home) is owned (by me) 100% outright. Does it need to be listed on form 8938?

OK...29 views and no response either means no one has an answer or they feel i am being OCD again.....

All i am trying to do is make sure i am on track with my filings. I know a number of you feel that my choice of Accountant firm(s) leaves much to be desired...and i will agree with you to a point...I will point out that .it might not be the Firm so much as the Accountant that was assigned to me.

I am dealing with this in the interm...but for now i am stuck with them for this years filing.....

nonetheless...since the IRS refuses to make any comments on form 8938 (as they have told me n the phone that they are not trained on this form) this leaves me asking (to some) stupid questions.

Regardless....the next volley across the court is telling me that principle residence or any real estate for that matter must be tabulated on form 8938.....i disagree with this as per the IRS faqs...however if something has changed i need to know about it and this is the best avenue i can think of.

I think in the initial draft of 8938 they were going in that direction...but i think the final copy does not specify this direction.

thank you in advance
