How to report paypal account on TD F 90-22.1

Post by Ben36 »

Hello everybody
I am required to file FBAR this year. Among my accounts I have a Canadian PayPal (with my address in Canada and CAD). How should I fill the form TD F 90-22.1 for this account? I mean I understand for the Account number or other designation, probably I should put my email (am I correct?). But what about “Mailing Address (Number, Street, Suite Number) of financial institution in which account is held “? PayPal doesn’t have any address in Canada as far as I can find. Could you please shed some light on this? Do you aware of the address I should put on the form ?
Thanks

Since paypal doesn't have an offcie in canada, why would you think it is a "cdn" account. It isn't. It is merely denominated in CAD.

Nelsona, is a paypal account something a canadian should place on the FBAR?

I was told that it does not as it is technically linked to one of your already listed (FBAR) accounts and besides it |(mine anyways) carries a '0' balance and is used for purchase only.

can you shed some light on this?

and if it is suppposed to go on the FBAR then it has to go on the 8938....sh*t....looks like i am back to making FBar AND 8938 amendments for an account that holds zero dollars!

I just love this system of tax!
