1042s with no tax id and no withholding

1042s with no tax id and no withholding

hi
what does the irs do with 1042s records with the code 03 on it for information reporting purposes only and the income is not from us sources and no tax was withheld and no ssn and the person was from canada and does not exist to the irs. to be clear worked out of canada but was paid by a us company and would they still have records after 3 years.

Of course they would keep them.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best

i was told the irs does not accept anything without a ssn number or american tax id so does this mean any statement form like the 1042s with no tax id would go into the trash.

so get an EIN.
