183 day rule

Post by bullrider »

Concerning working in Canada with this 183 day rule. The way I read the convention is that the 183 days is aggregate month to month; so if you go in say mid august this year it carries over into the next year. Which year would you be responsible for paying taxes in this year or next year?

The other question is you have been in Canada working for one company and you leave, come back in a month for a differant company under a differant project working as a contractor instead of employee would the 183 day rule start over with this new project?

thanks in advance !

If your stay in canada bridges over 2 calendar years, then you pay tax in both years.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
