I am a dual citizen living and working full-time in the US. I currently file no Canadian tax returns. I am planning on doing two weeks of work in Canada for Canadian employer (during my US job vacation).
Would this short period of work in Canada necessitate my paying Canadian taxes on US earned income?
Would this work then necessitate my paying Canadian taxes on interest earned in my Canadian bank account (as well as US tax?).
Any advice on the correct tax forms would be appreciated as well.
Thanks,
DC

This would not make you resident of Canada, so would not change any of your tax situation, except that you would have to report Cdn wages on Cdn return -- nothing else.
On that return, the treaty allows you to exempt all your Cdn wages , as long as it is less than C$10K for that year, otherwise you pay tax on it and then get credit for that tax on your US return. Any CPP and EI you would pay would be a credit on US return anyways (assuming it would not be refunded by CRA at year end, which it likely would be).

After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
