Line 104

Post by dkearney »

Hi, I live in Canada (Cdn Citizen) and work for a US company. I travel to the US for work about 3-4 days a month, otherwise I work from my home office in Canada. On line 104 - Other Employment Income of my Canadian return do I put in my total wages from my W-2 which includes my 401k contributions (this is the amount in box 3 and 4; Social Security Wages/Medicare Wagess and tips) OR do I use the amount from box 1 (Wages, tips, other comp, which is the amount of my salary minus my 401k deductions). Thanks.

You take your wages, box 1, and add your 401(k) contributions, which are indicated elesewhere on your W-2.

For 2009, you will no longer be taxed on your 401(K) contributions in Canada, as long as they don't exceed your RRSP limits
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
