can TD visa holder being self-employed?
Hi, i have TD visa while my husband is on TN. I know there are some opportunities working as independant distributors for multi-level marketing companies and the home expenses can be claimed. Am I allowed to do this? Some people said the company issues 1099 not W-2, so it should not be a problem, but I want to make sure. If not allowed, what about invest in a business, such as franchise etc? I am just exploring my options. Any input is appreciated.
This is the TAX forum. Your question is on immigration matters.
Howeverr, TD cannot do ANY work at all while in US, regardless of the method of payment, or even if they are not paid.

Your income can only be PASSIVE, you can buy McDonald's shares, or you can invest in a company that runs your local McDonald's, but you can not run your own McDonald's restaurant, or work in one.
