Yes, for 3 reasons.
1) Since you left so early in 2006, you don't get a full $8500 exemption, you'll get maybe $1000, so you need to actaully determine if you have any tax to pay.
2) When you leave, you need to pay departure tax on any investments you owned on the day you left. You need to report even the existence of any property.
3) even if you don't have any tax from 1 or 2, filing a deperture return is THE best way of notifying CRA that you are no longer resident. You should not file an NR73.
Filing a return, using the CRA "Emigrants" guide will alert you to any other steps that you need to take to avoid the appearance of living in Canada (GST rebate, telling bank, etc).
