Moving to US on a TN visa/status

Post by alphabet »

Hello everyone,

My wife and I are moving to the US next February (2019).

We have a primary resident we intend to rent out, also two investment condos.
One condo is currently rented out, the other one is pre-construction which will be ready in 2022.

My question is,
1. do we have to pay departure tax on all of these properties? It's gonna be a lot..
2. do we have to file the departure tax before leaving? or we can wait till April next year.

Thanks a lot!

Your exit return is due in April.
Cdn real estate is not subject to ecit tax, as it remains taxable in Canada even after you leave.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
