TD working in Canada, lives in US

Post by AirMilesM »

We filed dual status in 2004. We live in the USA all of 2005, but my wife (TD) commutes to work in Canada, and filed her taxes there for 2005. Do I file 1040's (MFS), with her declaring Canadian income and claim Canadian tax as credit on her 1040? Are there any tax savings if we file MFJ?

Yes, and Yes, usually. Try it both ways and see.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
