Interesting tax question - ROTH IRA

Post by nabstar »

Question for yall.

Canadian resident individual (who is a green card holder) contributed to ROTH IRA. So loses tax status in Canada, and they are reporting any accrued income in Canada.

What happens in US - since filing a full year return. Would you have to technically report that income, since it is part of world wide income. Or would you not, since technically its still tax free in US.

Thanks guys,

The Rith remains tax-fee in US as long as you follow IRS rules.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
