can 2555 and 1116 be used at the same time

hi everyone

I wish I could found this forum long time back.
Please bear my any stupidity for asking the simple question.

I moved to the US on TN visa in April, when I prepare the US tax filing for 2006,
I got to know these two files. Can I use them at the same time?
I tried to use 1116, it seemed not give any credit back for me.

You can only use 2555 on your Cdn wages, and even then only to a certain ammount. So, in 99% of cases, one has to use both 2555 and one or more 1116.

The ket is that you can't use 2555 and 1116 on the same wage ammount.
