Noticed there is no tax Year at the top of the form like other years. Looks like you would use the same form every year. :?:

Thanks. Just to hone in a little further.

The fact that it has no date at the top is good in that we don't have to wait to file this (especially good for those using turbotax software with 8891 form in it).

There are no differences in either the instructions or the foirm for this year.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best

If I am filing 8891s for past years (catching up for past sins), should I be using the 8891 that was provided for that specific year, or can I use the new form that doesn't have a date?

Even if you only had one that said '2005', you could use it for the previous 3 years (it was unchanged). For 2003 and before you would need to use the rev proc, not the form.

Thanks Nelson,

I'm filling out the 8891s for 2004 and 2005. The top right hand corner asks for an Identifying number. The instructions clearly say this should be a SSN or ITIN.

The original 1040s (filed jointly) for 2004 and 2005 had my wife's ITIN. We just got our permanent residencies in 2006, so she now a SSN. For my wife's RRSPs (and 8891s), do you think the IRS will be OK with her SSN, or do I need to reference her ITIN?

I would put her SSN.
