Could someone please point me in the right direction re: how to go about cashing in a locked in retirement account (held in Alberta) for a U.S. perm resident. It's worth less than 15k, is going on 10 yrs old, and the 5 yr GIC rate is up in August. Is it simple matter of calling the trust company, or is there a specific CCRA form I need to get from somewhere?
I want to concentrate on only worrying about my SD-RSP and my US investments.
Thanks!

How to Cash in a LIRA?
...Bill
You need to prove to your trutee that you are a non-resident of canada.
This is done by filing an NR73 with CRA, and then submitting their decision.

After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
