Transfer of an Alberta property to another person

Post by Dualcitizen2026 »

I live in the USA and I’m a dual citizen in Canada. My mother in law is very old and my husband asked her to add me to her property title so if she passed the disposition of the property would be easier. Documents were signed years ago and now we are getting divorced. I need to either transfer my I interest in the property back to her or to another one of her relatives. Are there any tax consequences since this is not my primary residence? No sale is occurring and no money will be transferred. In the USA it’s a quit claim deed but what form is necessary in Alberta Canada? My husband had an open bankruptcy in Canada and he didn’t want his name on it. Thanks in advance.
