transfer RRSP as non resident
Can I transfer my RRSP to a new bank while a non resident of Canada and a US tax resident. A google inquiry says I can but I don't see it documented anywhere. The new bank would initiate the transfer and no withdrawal have been taken. The new account would just sit.
Re: transfer RRSP as non resident
There are no laws or regulations that prevent such a transfer, HOWEVER many firms, especially banks, have made an internal policy to not accept a transfer fronts.m US reside
You would need to check with Cdn brokerage firms, as banks are unlikely.

I transferred my RRSP from BMO Nesbitt Burns to Scotia Wealth Management a number of years ago. I had no issues with either company processing the transfer.

Indeed. As you say, it's the brokerage side of the house that *might* accept you.
