U.S. LPR working remotely in Canada Question

Post by cadusd »

Hi, I’m an LPR living in the U.S. and planning to visit Canada for 1 week. I plan to work remotely during my stay and was curious if there are any tax implications I should look out for on both the IRS or CRA side? I am a Canadian citizen but am not a Canadian resident for tax purposes anymore.

Thank you!

None. Since you are working for a US firm, and not at a particular office in Canada for such a short period of time, there are no Cdn tax implications.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best

On the IRS side, make sure to comply with 8938 and FBAR requirements regarding non-USA accounts and assets.
