Moving to USA but commuting to canada for work

Post by makeitrain »

Hello, sorry if this is so simple but I could not find an exact answer anywhere.

I plan on living in a border town and working for a company in Canada. How much will I be taxed if I make around 60k CAD? I am married, two kids, and only one working. Thanks!

We don't do calculations here. Many sites have little programs that do tjhis.

Besides, it will depend on which province/state you are straddling and too many other factors. You will be fully taxed in Canada and Province, and will also end up paying state tax on that income too. The IRS, but not likely the state will credit your Cdn tax.

First, though, are you allowed to move to US? Unless you are a citizen or gren card holder, you are not allowed to "live" in US without a US work sponsor.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
