GOP tax bill

Has there been any word on how this could effect 1040NR filers? By my calculations my taxes will go up about $2500, I hope I'm wrong

Well, what did you base your calcs on?

Loss of the personal and spousal exemption is about the only change that affects 1040NR. For Cdns, that really only means they will now have a bigger foreign tax credit.

It may also make more couples use XXV(2) to file.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
