since i am filing my 1040NR now for 2016 year.
1. Do I need to report on my RRSP?
2. I don't do any transaction buy / sell after I leave Canada. But, some of the rrsp does give interest. Is it considered as GAIN? Or, interest?
thanks

If although non resident, still need to report RRSP on 540NR, do we also need to :
1. report other investments to california tax 540NR? while still non-resident alien?
2. report bank accounts interest on 540NR? (I understand FBAR is not necessary). Why? Is it because it is federal return?
thanks

You are a PART-YEAR resident of cali. You need to report all income you received while living in California. This is regardless of how you report on 1040NR which has different rules because of treaty.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
