property inheritance for dualcitizen of canada , u.s

Post by vuuli312 »

hello. I am a born canadian us naturalized citizen currently residing in canada. My canadian father (still living in canada) has left me the family home (willed to me, it is still in his name). What is my best course of action to minimize U.S./ canadian taxes?

There will be no Cdn or US taxes as a result of this when he dies. Thereafter you will owe cap gains atx on any growth after his death.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
