I moved to the US under a new TN visa in September 2016. Prior to this I was working as a consultant in the US but resident in Canada under a different TN.
I understand that I can file my taxes in Canada up to the date that I left but I have been reading various US tax return information that states I would have to pay taxes in the US on my worldwide income when i file here for the income I have received since moving to the US in September. Is that correct or when I file in the US, am I only liable for the income which I have earned in the US since I moved here ?

Basically, because you arrived later in the year, you have a choice on how to file. I==
A You can file a 1040NR reporting only US income
B You can file a full year 1040 reporting world income
C You can file dual status 1040NR/1040.
I've explained these elswehre, but A is simplest. B is best for married invidiuals, and C is rearely useful

After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best

Thanks
Thanks - I didn't see any posts about that - if you could point me to them, then I could look up what you said before.
