Hi,
I am new on this forum and read a few different topics about the subject but haven't found one that helped me with my situation...
So I entered the US on March 2015 with a K-1 visa and then got married in May and started to work in July. Before I entered the US, I was working in Canada and so I had an income in Canada until February 2015. My question is: how do I do to declare this earning correctly on Turbo Tax? My wife and I want to fill as married filling jointly and we just can't figure out how to declare this earning properly with Turbo Tax... :(
I first thought I would need to feel a form 2555 but after reading the instructions I figured out that no since I haven't been leaving 330 days in Canada in 2015...
If somebody knows the step to declare correctly the earnings made in canada before becoming a tax resident in US that would be so helpful (even though I know that US is going to consider me as a tax resident for the full 2015 year since I want to fill as married filling jointly)!
Thanks :)
Worked in Canada until entered US with K-1 Visa

Keep searching, your situation has been covered dozens of times. You will be filing 1040MFJ reporting all world income. You can use 2555 once you meet the 3330 days.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
