I received a request from CRA to provide information about my children. I am in Canada on a 3-year NAFTA work permit, and my wife is a Canadian citizen by descent (children are not citizens). The children entered Canada 2 years ago with their mother and the only documentation they received was a stamp on their passport.
Despite the fact that we have applied for permanent resident, and have all the documents required for their immigration, the children do not have any of the documents requested by the CRA (record of landing, permanent resident card, form IM 1442, or temporary resident visa)
How can I prove to the CRA that I have children? I can send them american passports, american birth certificates, and canadian health care cards but CRA said these are not acceptable. thanks!

Our permanent residence application is in process, so they do not have SIN's yet. I need to send some sort of response to CRA with 2 weeks -- would it be resonable to send the CRA copies of the american passports and birth certificates, and canadian health insurance cards and a letter stating that is all the documentation we have? It seems the CRA and canadian immigration are not in sync on their documentation requirements.
The CRA's letter also asked for confirmation that the children lived with us throughout the year. Does CRA expect anything specific for this, or simply a signed statement that, yes, they lived with us? The children are home schooled and we have no family doctor (we live in a rural area with a doctor shortage -- we've been on a waiting list for 2 years), so those sources of documentation are not available.
