This is our main tax information forum which deals with topics concerning Canadians living and working in the U.S., U.S. citizens contemplating working in Canada, and all aspects of Canadian and U.S. income tax and related adminstrative issues.
Are gains on RRSP's taxable in the U.S.? Does the income from them need to be reported?
If so, does the fact that my husband was a US permanent resident since 2005 mean that he should have been reporting the growth on his small Canadian RRSP since then?
I think I read somewhere that there is some way to excuse RRSP growth from US taxes, since it is similar to an IRA which grows tax free.
There are lots of posts about RRSPs. happy browsing.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
