US PR attending Canadian college with internship income

Post by Tracy »

I would like to have someone help me with our situation for filing 2013 tax return. My son is attending Canadian college and this year is his third year. He has internship income for over ten thousand in 2013. If we claim him as our dependent, Turbotax won't allow me to report his income and ask my son to file his income tax return separately. My question is: does he need to file US income tax return or Canada income tax return or he has to file from both sides.

Thanks in advance for your kind help!

I forgot to mention that my son's internship income was in Canada in 2013.

Thanks for help!

He does need to file in both countries
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
