Contributing to Roth IRA before moving in the same tax year

Post by Jonhello »

I am planning to apply for residency and also officially move to Canada around August 2021. Can I contribute to my Roth IRA and/or 403b up until that point (up to July 2021)? Does it matter that the contributions though they happen earlier are in the same tax year as the move?

That is fine. Make sure they happen before moving. Sometimes workplace pension funds are slow at releasing funds while waiting for the word that you are no longer an employee.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
