Has FBAR reporting amounts changed?

Post by oldgringo »

Does this mean that if a person who's "tax homes" are in a foreign country that their obligation to file FBAR has been raised to $50,000 from $10,000?

$50,000 on the last day of the tax year or $75,000 at any time during the tax year (higher threshold amounts apply to married individuals filing jointly and individuals living abroad)

No. If you are between 10,000 and 50,000 you would file FBAR as usual, since you meet the reporting requirements for that form.
