Will rrsp mutual fund trading break non Resident Status?

Post by jennysunlight70 »

Sorry, just realized that RRSP MF cannot be traded as non-resident. However, this account is handled by relative in Canada, never updated as non-resident status. And this is the only account that exist in Canada and already reported to US (TDF &8891).

Will update status to bank right now, but want to know whether there will be a big risk of my non-resident status (left Canada 10 years ago, no departure return was filed at that time), sorry for my limited knowledge .....

no, it violates securities laws, but does not make you resident. Please regularize your account, instead of spoofing a Cdn address.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
