moving back to canada

Post by User1234 »

hello,
My family and I are planning to move back to Canada in summer, and do not know what to expect from CRA.
We have left Canada in 2004 and did not do a good job on serving ties,
- still have credit card which didn't use or even activated after departure
- still have line of credit (I dont know why??)
- Closed RRSP and all bank accounts
- did not renew DL
- cancelled OHIP card
- Still renewing my PEng (professional engineering) with PEO, I have changed my address in my PEO profile to US
- Never owned a property in Canada, I was renting

I received a letter from CRA (to my address in US) in 2006 to explain the reason of not filling taxes , and I responded by mail and did not hear anything from CRA.

Am I going to be in trouble when I start filing taxes again in Canada after 9 years?

Best,
nelsona

No.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best

Thanks Nelsona,
I was going to cancel Canadian credit cards and line of credit, but it seems silly to do it right before moving back after 9 years.
