Moved to California and started working April 2012. Still on Canadian income up until April 2012.
Do I file my US taxes first and then file for Canadian? Not sure the logistics in getting the foreign tax credit and if I need to do it in a certain order. What form do I need to fill out for the foreign tax credit and do I submit the foreign tax credit with my Canadian taxes after I filed my US taxes?
Thanks for your help.

You should not have to report any US income on your Cdn return, since you left canada, file a departure return with departure date in April. So no foreign tax credit needed. Read the CRA Emigrants guide.
For US, you can exempt your Cdn wages when filing 1040 using form 2555.
Only cdn taxes paid on Cdn non-wages (interst, cap gains, etc) will require a foreign tax credit, on your US return

After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
