Quick question: Form 2555 and tax treaty date established

Post by panek »

Moved to U.S. from Canada in 2012.

I'm filing 2555 and claiming physical presence test to file as full year resident.

Line 9 (or line 11a of 2555-EZ) of 2555 asks for my tax homes and dates established.

For my Canadian tax home date established, do I put my birth date?

sure, why not. The key is when you established your US tax home, which would coincide with your Cdn departure date.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
