I am a Canadian who has been living and working in the US for the past 15 years. Each year, I file form 8891 with the IRS detailing the RRSPs I held in Canada prior to leaving. I also built up an employee pension with the company I worked for in Canada and it has been essentially frozen until I take distributions (and, of course, report these as income).
In Jan 2012, the IRS introduced form 8938 which is used to report "Foreign Financial Assets". It does not replace 8891 but is in addition to it. Is anyone familiar with this form? I wondered if I have to use this form to report my Employee pension that I earned while working in Canada.
Thanks for any help/advice.

This form has of course been detailed here. Please browse and you will find all you need. you probably had to file it last year too.
I trust, you have been compliant with FBAR as well.

After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
