Can pension income from an employer pension be treated as foreign earned income for claiming the foreign earned income deduction ?

Nope. You will need to use foriegn tax credits to reduce US taxation.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best

Pensions are considered General limitation income for foreign tax credit purposes.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
