Claiming travel expenses from US to Canada for rental

Post by NewCanadian »

Like IRS allows, is it possible to claim travel expenses for US Canada travel on 216 return for visit to rental property during change of tenant?

If yes, are there any disadvantage of claiming this expense?

CRA is usually very strict on disallowing travel to and from your home to your rental site.] for any reason. TYpically only expenses for travel between two or more rental sites is acceptable.

David ingram at centa.com did a good analysis of this a coupe of weeks ago.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
