US Tax Refunds

Post by mybonnieliesoverthesea »

I live in Canada (Cdn Citizen)and work in the States. I received a refund on my US taxes but haven't filed my Canadian ones yet.
Do I need to claim my US tax refund as part of my income?

No.

You use the tax calculated on your US tax return (plus SS and medicare) towards your foreign tax credit on your Cdn return.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
