Does your spouse have to sign the Tdf 90.22 form for joint?

Post by MIKE2000Z28 »

Im married to a Canadian and live in Canada, however when it came to joint accounts, i wrote her name and Spouse next to it. According to the instructions it says that they need the spouse to sign, but is that only if she has a TIN? She has zero ties to the US. Im about to send the form out so i need to know asap. I did a search and couldn't come up with anything.

Actually, the instructions say that she should sign if she is not submitting a TD form of her own. There is no requirement for a TIN.

So, yes, she should sign. But only you are considered the filer.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
