Form 8891?

Post by MIKE2000Z28 »

I finished filling out my forms. Quick question for the future. When you claim the treaty provision for each rrsp. Is it the first year you had that particular rrsp or the first year you reported rrsps in general?

Im putting 2006 for every account since that was the first year i tax deferred my first rrsp plan.

So lets say i open a new rrsp up in 2008, the first time i fill out an 8891 for it , i have to elect to defer for this year and then in 2009, i put i deferred since 2008?

New accounts get a new election date.

New cccounts which contain funds that were transferred from older accounts on which the election was made, get the earlier election date.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
