Tax Treaty info - deemed disposition tax after 10yrs nosale

Post by tony9409 »

Hi

I was talking to a member at CRA yesterday about my deemed disposition and what happens after 10years since departure to the taxes if I had not sold the assets. The fellow was unaware of the 10year treaty and was saying I'd still owe taxes...so I'd like to know where could I find more detail about it to read up on it. By the way things are progressing with chapter 11 at Nortel my shares may still be around by my departure date which is coming up on 10years.

regards,
Tony

The treaty does protect you, as you say.

he accepts one free e-mail, so give it a try.

I'd like to know what he says.
