Deferring Cdn Tax on Stock Option Gain - US Tax Consequences

Post by crowbait »

Dual citizen, living and working in Canada. I have vested options in Cdn public company. I plan to exercise some in order to hold shares and defer Cdn income event and tax on gain until shares are sold. Plan is to hold for many years. What is implication for US tax?

Curious as to the answer to this as well, also in light of recent treaty changes.
