I am a US citizen married to a candian citizen. I live in Canada and have a Canada resident card. I also attend a US school for graduate degree, physically visiting one or two weeks every month. I got about $10,000 from school doing some work for the university, in 2007. I had spent considerabel aamount of this money for travel and lodging.
I do not have Canadan income, but my spouse (Canadian citizen) does.
I want to file my taxes as follows:
1. US 1040 as US resident for my US Income .in 2007.
2. Filing as a Canadian Resident ( Joint) to maintain my residency status in Canada, for 2007. Do I have to include my US income for the Canadian tax filing?
Is the above applicable and correct? filing in both countriea as resident?
Thank you
TAx question filing as US rwsident and Canadian Resident

You will file in canada as a resident, and include all your income. There is no joint Cdn return. You MUST file every year in US because of citizenship; residence doesn't matter much, you still report ALL income there too.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
