So much interesting information here. Thanks to all who contribute. My first question is...

Are there any filing requirements for moving money between Canada and the US from personal bank accounts? We are US resident aliens, filing taxes only in the US and want to wire some money from Canada. TIA

Banks will take care of any reporting requirements. It's only when you carry bags of cash or nameless travelers checks that you need to report.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
