What's the filing deadline for a 3520 to report a gift?
I received money from my father deposited to a UK bank account to help purchase a US property. I'd assumed the filing deadline was mid April, but I've just seen this saying the deadline for foreign trust deadline is mid March. I need to file the 3520 but as its a gift its not a trust, therefore I'm ...

Where can I find information on what a trust actually is?
I have a TFSA and so need to fill a 3520, but I'm also curious and would like to know what the actual definition of a trust is. Why are TFSA's trusts but not RRSPs nor bank accounts nor pension schemes? Why are apparently not all TFSAs trusts but most are? (http://forums.serbinski.com/viewtopic.php?...

What type of trust is a TFSA when applying for an EIN?
My accountant is quoting a large charge to obtain an EIN for use with reporting a TFSA and filing a 3520/3520A. However browsing this forums informs me its something that can be obtained for free from irs.gov so I thought I'd do it myself and save some money, however I don't know what type and subty...

Declaration/reporting requirements for US pensions
I'm a recent US resident but Canadian citizen with Canadian bank accounts,RRSPs,TFSAs etc and have recently discovered about all the US reporting requirements that entails.
However I also have some UK private pension scheme accounts, what are the specific reporting requirements on those?

A quick way of estimating foreign tax owing?
My wife and I care Canadian citizens now resident in the US (I work, she doesn't) and have just realized that due to our Canadian accounts filing the return is going to be much more complication than I had thought. I'm not going to have time to thoroughly research, complete, and check all the forms ...

I was going to hire Serbinski as my lawyers/accountants to sort this out for me, and initially paid the fee for the initial consolation with a view to expanding that to file non-resident withholding forms and tax returns etc. But I've now got a refund and have gone elsewhere. The reason: your perpet...

I can no longer find a copy of it, but I am sure when I filed the 2011 return I said I had left and what date etc. The CRA wrote and asked me for more information, unfortunately I have lost their original letter and my reply, but it almost certainly involved dates of departure from Canada. Going thr...

How does a departure return differ from a regular return?
I moved from Canada to the US and so want to file a Canadian departure return.
I cannot find on the internet any form specifically for this (did I miss it?) so I presume a regular return form is used but certain lines within the form are filled in to indicate one's departure date etc.?
