I was leading towards using Schedule A as it seems to be the easy form. 1116 is too complicated to fill up.

Would using Schedule A be wrong ?

Also which forms need to be filled. I am getting conflicting information. Some say deduct the tax paid using Schedule A. Others advise filling up the Form 1116

Any help is appreciated.

Canadian in US - income reporting

I am a Canadian citizen living in US and therefore resident of US for tax purposes. However all my income is in Canada for which Canadian tax is paid (deducted at source). My US is $0.

How do I report the Canadian income on the US 1040 ? How do I deduct tax etc.

Pls help.

Thanks. I did go thru all posts.

However it is not clear if one can file the TD F form retroactively. Also does one have to mention the RRSP (8891 form) amount in the TD F form.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

8891 and TD F 90-22.1 forms

I moved from Canada to US in 2008 on H4 (my wife is onH1B) and have been filing my tax returns using H&R Block. However never did I file in the 8891 and TD F forms, since I wasn't aware of them. After spending a whole day "googling: them, I think I need to file (retroactively) the two forms...
