Dear all,
my friend has Masters degree in Electrical Engineering. He has been offered a position in US matching Computer Systems Analyst description. Is he eligible for TN visa as a Computer Systems Analyst having Electrical Engineering degree?
Thank you in advance.

Thanks again. I think that subcontracting from US to Canada is much more transparent than subcontracting to India for example which takes place a lot. I have one more question - where and in which category these expenses must be reported on the income tax, are they called 'subcontracting' or 'consul...

Thank you, Carson, it is vice versa, I work in US and I have extra software projects from my company here that I would be able to take over and partially pass to my Canadian subcontractor. He will do the job for me, in Canada, sending me the code by email. The work is real. The question is - what do...

Subcontracting to Canada

A simple question. Can a US taxpayer subcontract a Canadian-based
1) person, or
2) coproration
who reside and pay taxes in Canada?
Other than invoices, is there any paperwork or forms?

I am :). The question was not about this. The question is - do you need to keep documents to prove where you are at certain dates (air tickets, etc.) or - they do "have" all this info.

I was referencing one of the replies on this forum -
for example, you are filling form 2555, specifying days spent *in* US and days spent *outside* US. How does IRS check/validate this?

And in the US, how does IRS verify your presence-absence, ins-outs?

Reporting Canadian dividends on US returns

Canadian corporation paid me part of the amount in the form of Dividends. I have not found any specific place on the US return for this. Form 1116 itemizes such income for tax credit. But I don't see any place where to report this type of income on 1044 as a foreign. Where do we need to enter foreig...

Because he has already become non-resident, he will *probably* be able to avoid Cdbn taxation, even after marriage, as long as he does not establish other secondary ties, nor visit canada very often. Nelson, just for my curiosity then - 1) How do IRS/CCRA verify dates of someone's presence/visits i...

guy, I will go 1116, but most of the people whom I know - they worked in Canada for Canadian company and then in US for US company and so they used 2555 which saves you more as they (and people here) said.

Thanks Nelson,
His concern is - when she files her next Canadian tax return as "married", mentioning him as a husband, -
may CCRA "notice" this, and start reviewing his non-residential status?
How big is this chance?

Marriage: Canadian non-resident and Canadian resident

My brother has the following situation. - He is a non-resident of Canada living and working in US on TN. - His girlfriend is a Canadian resident, not a citizen yet. - As of today, he files his US tax return only, she files her Canadian tax return only. - He wants to marry her, but after marriage she...
