US Citizen working in the US for a Canadian company

Post by enhance »

Hey,

I am employed full time, paid by salary in US funds from a Canadian company in BC, but I work from home in the US and seldom travel to Canada.

I am registered as a sole propeitor and declare the income from the Canadian company as cash income on my schedule C - there are no 1099's, no W2's - nothing - just basic cash income.

Do I open myself to an audit from the IRS? Is there a better way to do this? Can the Canadian company send a form to the IRS similar to a 1099?

Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated in this confusing tax state.

This is the correct way for your contract to be paid.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
