Do I need to file 3520A

Post by dbaezner »

Hi. I purchased investments in Canada, where I live, in 2016 but have only learned that I'm still a US person. Do I need to file 3520A for my investments (3 mutual funds, one of which is under a TFSA)? My investment manager (Scotiabank) says they don't file 3520A.

Thanks

Proabaly. And since you bought mutual funds, you may have to file PFIC as well.
