How long can a Cdn visitor stay in USA? Is it 6 months? Pls ignore tax implications in your reply.

Unless told otherwise by the CBP officer (and issued an I-94 with a specific limit), a Cdn enters US on undocumented B2 for a maximum 6 months. This is on every entry.

There is no calendar year maximum, So, one could leave and re-enter the same day for another 6 months.
However such entries would be scrutinized as to whether the visitor still qualified as such, since this would indicate a lack of ties outside US.
On can also, once legally in US, request an extension from USCIS, by mail, for 6 additional months.

What about the rolling 12 month calculation? I was informed there was a calculation involving the past 3 years?

This has to do with taxes, not visitor stays.

The rule of thumb for CBP to not be suspicious of your entry is to be out of US for as much time as you were last in US.
