State efile (NY) only with 1040

State efile (NY) only with 1040

I prepare my tax in 2016 as dual status with 1040 and 1040NR part year.

I filed the 1040 dual status already and sent to the IRS mailing address, using TaxAct.

For the NY return, it's not letting me e-file using it's interface since I set myself to dual status for the 1040, there's no single state eFile option. Should I just print off the NY forms and send it by mail? NY state has a mandatory e-file requirement if using software but I can't file online so, should I include a brief explanation why?
